The Blackberry Storm is now available at Verizon Wireless and it looks like it has the potential to be very competitive. It's strong areas are where the Iphone is weak, it has a better camera, a better keyboard, and it is visually appealing. Verizon Wireless is selling it for $199.99 USD.

Motorola unveiled the AURA. The world's first mobile phone with a circular screen.

Motorola unveiled the AURA phone today, it is the first phone to have a circular screen, and it is uniquely styled. It has a 16 million colour display with a resolution of 300 dots per inch (DPI), an aluminum keypad, stainless steel housing, a 62-carat Sapphire crystal lens, and a mirror polish finish.

The interstellar boundary explorer: IBEX, was launched on the 19th of October.

IBEX, the intertellar boundary explorer was successfully launched and will travel to the outer solar system after orbiting for 45 days and explore it's boundaries. IBEX will be used to study the interactions of hot solar wind colliding with the cold vastness of space. It will also map the boundaries of the solar system.

Helium leak in Large Hadron Collider (LHC)

According to CERN, there was a large helium leak into sector 3-4 of the Large Hadron Collider tunnel (LHC) from the magnet cold mass. Investigations confirmed that the leak was caused by a faulty electrical connection between two of the accelerator's magnets. No one was put at risk, and CERN has sufficient replacement parts for the damaged equipment. They should be able to restart the LHC in 2010.

Mobile Phone Dermatitis

According to the British Association of Dermatologists, mobile phones that contain nickel may cause skin rashes (facial and finger rashes) on people that have nickel allergies. 10 of 22 (45%) mobile phones tested by Brown University students contained nickel. Mobile phones with fashionable exteriors are more likely to contain nickel. The BAD called this condition: Mobile Phone Dermatitis.
