Battery size refers to how much energy the battery stores, not the runtime/battery life per charge. A phone’s battery life per charge is determined by the phone’s power consumption, which varies widely.
RAM refers to main memory or system memory. This is volatile primary storage (not to be confused with flash memory or permanent storage). More RAM generally improves the performance of your phone, making it practical to run more apps.
CPU Core Count
CPU core count refers to the number of cores in the phone’s processor. More cores and a higher clock speed per core (measured in GHZ) both make your phone faster.
Storage Capacity (Flash)
Storage Capacity (Flash) refers to the built-in (internal) permanent storage that your apps, app data, photos, videos, and settings are stored on.
microSD Card Slot
microSD Card Slot refers to a slot for a microSD card. However, it is important to note that (on many phones) your ability to move apps or their data to your microSD card is severely limited. Hence the need for a substantial amount of Storage Capacity (Flash). Usually, you can only put your own files (such as photos, videos, documents, etc that you create) on the microSD card.
Camera Megapixel (MP) ratings are not a good indicator of overall photo quality. A higher MP rating translates to higher resolution photos, but the photos won’t necessarily be of high quality. The quality of the sensor and dynamic range (sadly, I don’t have this info) is far more important.
ARM refers to both a company and the architecture of the CPU. ARM is in the RISC category of microprocessors used primarily in mobile phones, tablets, set-top boxes, smartwatches, microcontrollers, and other small computers. ARM processors have different instruction sets from x86 processors (so apps are not cross-compatible).
This isn’t the most relevant detail when comparing phones. However, it is useful if you are downloading an app and it asks you to choose whether you want the ARM version or x86 version. x86 processors are usually found in desktop, server, and laptop computers, as well as although few other devices.
Many modern phones are equipped with a sandbox-like feature that creates an isolated environment in your phone for apps, contacts and other data. This can isolate apps from each other or be used to keep prying eyes out of confidential data. Common examples of these features are the Samsung Secure Folder and BlackBerry Locker.
