Troubleshooting: fail2ban: ERROR Failed during configuration: Have not found any log file for sshd jail

If you’re trying to set up Fail2Ban on Ubuntu and it fails to start with the following error, it may be because you need to set the backend to systemd:

fail2ban: ERROR Failed during configuration: Have not found any log file for sshd jail

To resolve this issue, load the jail.conf file using the following command and then change ‘backend = auto‘ to ‘backend = systemd‘:

nano /etc/fail2ban/jail.conf
