France recently banned the sale of the iPhone 12 after it was discontinued because its radiation emissions exceed the levels permitted by French regulations. Apple has developed an update (iOS 17.1) to lower the radiation levels of the iPhone 12 and bring it into compliance with French regulations. The iPhone 12 increased radiation levels if it detected that it was off the user’s body to improve performance.

Following the update, it will no longer increase them. This could compromise the phone’s cellular signal in areas with poor coverage. This change will only be applied in France. Despite the update, Apple insists that the iPhone 12 has always been safe and criticized the Agence Française Nationale des Fréquences’ test results.
